SEPTEMBER
Greetings Brothers & Sisters,
Wow, September already. August saw two (2) Training Academies. They were both well
attended, and we had several first-time attendees. Mentoring was flying all around the
training rooms. Many thanks to Auxiliary #3437, Sweet Home and #9745 Amos R
Osborne Winston for their hospitality in hosting the academies.
It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get busy for our veterans. To be able to successfully
support our veterans we must have strong leadership in our auxiliaries. As mentioned
during the training academies, I will be hosting web-based trainings on the duties and
responsibilities of officers and chairpersons in the auxiliary. My thought is to do two (2)
options each month for training. I am thinking of the third Tuesday of the month at 4
p.m. and then the 4th Monday of the month at 8:00 p.m. I am hoping these two
days/times will work for the majority. I am hoping to record the training and put it on
our website. Learning curve here for me, might not happen until next month.
I look forward to receiving reports for the mentoring that is happening across this state.
Each time you explain a by-law, our ritual, or welcome a new member by explaining
what the auxiliary is, you are mentoring and should be reporting it. If you have
questions, email or call me.
I am diligently working on instituting a new auxiliary in Brookings. I am in the process
of verifying the eligibility of the applicants who have submitted their application. It
proves to be a lengthy process but one that will have a positive result.
If you did not attend a training academy and would like to be on the training email
group, send me an email at chiefofstaffvfwaor@gmail.com I will happily add you to the
list.
