Buddy Poppy Chairman
Hello Brothers
and Sisters,
Those that were able to attend the National
Convention in Reno this year I hope you were able to look at the Buddy Poppy
displays. Something that was brought to my attention is that if you sign your
entries make sure that you do not put your name or your post number where it
can be seen, like on the underside of the base.
The "Buddy”® Poppy is assembled by disabled
and needy veterans in VA medical facilities.
Proceeds from
the VFW "Buddy”® Poppy program:
• Provide
compensation to the veterans who assemble the poppies.
• Provide
financial assistance in maintaining state and national veterans' rehabilitation
and service programs.
• Partially
supports the VFW National Home for Children.
Displays of the
Buddy Poppy contests will be presented and judged in three categories:
CATEGORY 1. Public Promotion of Poppy Campaign
(Window, booth, parade, poster displays, campaign promotions, etc.)
(a) Displays
must be designed for public exposure and must bear a message soliciting a
donation for and wearing of the VFW "Buddy” ® Poppy.
(b) At least
one (1) of the poppies used in the display must be in its original form and
color, with a label attached.
